When did Ikea get so stylish?

I just discoverd some great furniture on Ikea's website! I didn't realise they were getting so sophisticated and stylish? These are certainly furnishings I will be including in my new house. I can imagine those bar stools at my breakfast counter, that bookshelf in my library. Wouldn't that wardrobe look adorable in a guest room? And the sofa table would look gorgeous with a beautiful lamp and some photo frames I have stashed away for the dream home.

I'm in love!

I just came across a property to die for that is for sale in Newport, Australia. I just love the Hampton's inspired look and feel of the property. Can you imagine cooking in this kitchen? Aren't those pantries just dreamy!

Frustrating

It's always the way isn't it, you get an idea in your mind to do something and yet there are a number of hurdles and road blocks along the way. My road block at the moment is the fact that I can't find any land in the region I want to build that is the size I want (over 1 acre) and not going to cost me an arm and a leg (and a kidney, heart and liver!).

I have always had this "dream location" in my mind..picture this...it is about 4 acres, has distant ocean views, slightly rolling fields and the trickle of a small creek running through it. Yes, that's the land I will buy when I win the $90M lotto this week! Realistically though (bringing myself back down to earth now!) I know that I am not going to get this with the budget I have to work with so I am just happy for a simple acre of land at this point...preferably not next to a power plant though, I am desperate but not that desperate! So the search continues! Meanwhile I guess I will keep planning the design.

So the first entry of my brand new blog! Thank you for joining me on my journey and I hope you can stick around and keep reading as I progress in my adventure - making my dream house a reality!!

Seriously though, i've been planning this house in my mind for years. I have one of those folders all separated into sections for each room and I regularly add new images of what I want each room to look like, what the colours of the walls will be or even what furniture I would like to use. Yes, a completely dreamy home. It dawned on me that I could just keep on doing this forever or I could actually start taking the first steps in making it happen. So to give you a taste for me...well tastes, let me share with you a house I am completely in love with (along with a million other people!). Yes, it's the house from Something's Gotta Give.
